Short Story Competition

Dear HS PTO,

A HUGE thank you from the freshmen English teachers. The mini-grant helped make this year’s short story competition even more successful than last year. We used the money to purchase gift certificates to Kyobo Books. Additionally, we hosted a lunch party for all the finalists, 18 students in total. We purchased sandwiches from Quiznos and ordered drinks as well. The incentives (lunch party, gift certificates) added momentum and interest in the competition.

This was all thanks to you. The support that the PTO provides ensures the improvement of teaching and learning at KIS. We look forward to another great year in 2013-2014!

Thanks from Ms. Cali – Mini Grant Award

Dear HS PTO,

I could not thank you enough for the mini grant you awarded the Theatre Department.  As you know, the musical was very expensive this year, and your grant helped us reach our goal of producing this show.  With the 300,000 KRW that you gave us, we were able to purchase the individual lights for the show, which was very important in the opening number and in the second act.  More importantly, however, the lights will benefit many future productions, in our classes and on the PAC stage.  These lights are very versatile, and can be used in a variety of different ways, and we couldn’t have purchased them without your help!
Thank you!  Please enjoy the attached photos from the show.
Thanks again for all that you have done to make this musical such an incredible success!  We couldn’t have done it without you!!
Best regards,
Erica Cali

KIS Balance Survey

Dear KIS Parents,
This year KIS high school created a team of teachers focused on assisting our students with achieving balance between their rigorous education and their personal need for social and emotional well-being. “Balance in Life” is one of KIS’ 5 core values. We believe nurturing physical, social-emotional, creative and intellectual wellness will lead to healthy self-actualization for our students and success as they prepare for college.
As a staff we are seeing a difference from these efforts, but we want input from our students’ parents. Your information will give us insight from your perspective that we will use to improve our teaching practices, as well, create a rigorous and healthy educational environment for your child. The link to the survey is below and we would appreciate you taking it by May 12th. If you have any questions please email Thank you very much and have a nice day.
– KIS Balance Team

Greetings from High School Principal

Our PTO’s mission to support the academic and extra-curricular activities of students and staff has proven to be an invaluable resource for achieving great learning experiences here at KIS. Through the support of our parent community, KIS staff is able to stretch in its ability to develop individual talents and explore new opportunities for whole school development. The high school faculty feels so very fortunate to have such a supportive and collaborative partnership with parents that want only the best for our kids and their future. KIS is one of the premiere international schools and a contributing factor to our strong reputation is the caring community of parents that support our school.
