HS Back to School Night 2018

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the High School at KIS for all students, parents and families. We are happy to see all of our returning students as well as welcoming many new faces on our campus for 2018-2019. This week has been a smooth transition for our students in high school; they have already met with all of their teachers, obtained course syllabi and materials, and begun to engage with their classmates in rich learning opportunities in every curricular area. This week also marks a return to advisory for all of our high school students. During this week, students are beginning to prepare for their upcoming Experiential Education trip, August 29 – August 31. Throughout the school this week – and for the entire school year – we are focusing on our K-12 school-wide approach to learning and discipline: be responsible, be respectful and be safe. To this end, all high school students met with the High School Principal and Associate Principal to review matters of personal conduct, such as the dress code, our attendance and tardy policies and expectations for autonomous block. Each student will receive a Parent-Student handbook and we ask that you review it with your child and use it as a valuable resource should questions or issues arise. Please sign the form at the back of the handbook and have your child return it to school during their advisory class during the week of August 20-August 24. Next week, we are excited to welcome all parents, guardians and students to join us for our secondary Back to School Night, August 22. We are excited for your students to have opportunity to take you on a tour of the school and introduce you to each of their teachers. Our goal for Back to School Night is to increase school- to-home communication, so we can work together to support the highest levels of engagement and successful learning for our students.
