KIS Session: Easing the Transition for Third/Cross Culture Students

Hello Wonderful KIS Parents,

Starting next week Ms. Becki Majors and Ms. Klara Jaeger will be offering sessions on Easing the Transition for Third/Cross Culture Students. With the end of the academic year in sight, some of our families are planning for upcoming moves and changes. All KIS students are affected, whether it is their family that is moving or that of a friend. Find out what sets our Third Culture and Cross Culture students apart, and how we can support their transition. We hope to see you at one of the 4 sessions listed below and all KIS parents are welcome.

These sessions are for all parents and teachers. However please note that there will be a special transition session designed and tailored specifically for our seniors. The senior transition session will be offered by the High School counseling office and they will be sending information soon.

KIS Fall Art Exhibition 2017

The Fall Art Exhibition, “Chroma,” will be on display in the Conference Hall on November 13-16. This annual art show celebrates the accomplishments of the PK-12th grade students this semester/trimester. With the theme of Chroma (an intense quality of color), students were challenged to bring their experiences and ideas into an array of different colors. On November 14th, fellow classmates, faculty, and parents are welcome to come to the reception in the Conference Hall at 3:15 – 4:45 PM. MS PTO will be having a snack sale as well.

Opening Reception: Tuesday, November 14th, 3:15-4:30 pm.

– KIS  Fine Arts Department

Continuing with the tradition of having a Service Learning project within this exhibition, ES, MS, and HS students have collaborated in creating a coloring book. We wanted to apply our art skills in a real-world context while also helping out our local community. Partnering with the Actions of Compassion club, all of our proceeds will be donated to the Nabiya cat shelter.

The Fine Arts department hopes to see you at this exhibition and buy a coloring book!

What is Experiential Education?

Dear KIS parents,

Enjoy the EE Trip Highlights Video!

This Video“What is Experiential Education?” is an overview of Experiential Education at Korea International School.  Since 2012, over 20 trip leads from grades 4-12 have organized trips in the fall and spring around Korea focusing on the following 4 pillars: service, applied learning, intercultural proficiency, and self-discovery.

Big thanks to Mr.Johnston and all the teachers who have worked hard to provide unique experiences to help our students grow as a person outside of the classroom.
