Letter from Curriculum Coordinator

Dear Parents,

Beginning September 17, your Child Will participate in Measures of Academic Progress
(MAP) testing. Data collected from the MAP test Will provide information about his/her
instructional level and will measure academic growth throughout the 2014/15 school year.
Areas assessed are mathematics, language usage, and reading. Students will be reminded
of all testing procedures before their official testing begins (which varies by grade level and
school division). Classroom teachers know the testing schedules and can provide families
with specific times and dates if needed.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning.
As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive
attitude toward testing. With IVIAP tests, We can administer shorter tests and use less time
whiler still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s academic growth.
Additionally, MAP tests allow for immediate results and faster parental access to student
data. Soon after the MAP testing Window closes on October 8, 2014, you will receive a report
displaying your child’s progress in all subjects tested. VVe will be administering the MAP tests
again in the Spring of 2015, and will continue with MAP testing twice a year until your child
completes 8th grade at KIS.

We are truly excited to continue focusing on every child’s individual growth and
achievement. With this goal in mind, please ensure your child is on time, rested, and ready to
do their best on all testing dates. For additional information and resources explaining IVIAP
testing, review the materials on the NVVEA website for parents at
https://WWW.nwea.org/assessments/resources-for-parents/.

Thank you in advance for your support with this assessment which helps us improve and
individualizing instruction. VVe are extremely fortunate to be working with such talented
students and their families.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Traci Osterhagen
