Important Info on May and June SAT Test Dates-from KIS College Counselor’s Office

Dear Students and Parents,

As many of you probably know by now, the College Board has cancelled the May SAT and SAT Subject Tests because a couple of hagwons have illegally obtained SAT materials for this test date. For more information, please refer to the email below that I received.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the administration of the June SAT. Based on the information provided below, the College Board is currently planning to proceed with the administration for the June SAT test. However, that situation could change. Therefore, please watch for additional emails or notifications from the College Board.

Dear Test Center Supervisor:

In response to information provided by the Republic of Korea Supreme Prosecutors’ Office regarding tutoring companies that are alleged to have illegally obtained SAT and SAT Subject Test materials for their own commercial benefit, the College Board and Educational Testing Service (ETS) are cancelling the May 2013 administration of the SAT and SAT Subject Tests at all test centers in the Republic of Korea.

This action is necessary to protect the integrity of the test administration process for all test takers and to ensure the validity of SAT and SAT Subject Test scores that are reported to colleges and universities.

Registered students will receive an official notification of the cancellation and a refund of their registration fee for the May SAT or SAT Subject Tests.

At this time, the College Board and ETS intend to proceed with the June 2013 administration of the SAT and SAT Subject Tests in the Republic of Korea.

Due to the timing of this cancellation, ETS is offering a token honorarium of $75 (USD) for May Test Center Supervisors, in recognition of the fact you likely have already performed some pre-administration duties.  To apply for this honorarium, please complete the Supervisor’s Summary Voucher online on test day, as you would normally do.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Test Administration Services at or 609-771-7788(outside the US).  Please be aware that we will be open for service during standard US business hours, from 8:00AM EST to 5:00PM EST Monday through Friday and 7:00AM EST to 6:00PM EST on test days.  Due to the time difference, we apologize for any delay in responding to your inquiry.
